Introducing Baby Theodore | Durham Newborn Photographer

Oh the joy of taking newborn photography at home! Lifestyle photography sessions are my favorite because it is a wonderful, fun, and relaxing opportunity to capture who you are as a family!

For those who aren’t familiar with lifestyle photography, it basically means you take a documentary and photojournalistic approach to capturing photos. While I still incorporate some posing during sessions, I also create room for the unposed, candid moments. Ultimately, my goal as a lifestyle family photographer is to create images that tell a meaningful story of your family while capturing genuine emotion in your photos. Lifestyle photography does not look stiff, awkward, cheesy, staged, or forced. Lifestyle photography is real, natural, organic, genuine, authentic, candid.

All that to say, I had such a wonderful time taking lifestyle newborn photos for this sweet family at their modern, cozy home! Baby Theo was born a couple weeks after Kathleen and Andrew’s maternity session and came out earlier than expected, but he was just so excited to join his family! :) He was SO adorable during our session, and I absolutely loved taking photos of him being held in his parents’ arms! It’s the way parents look and hold their precious baby that makes these newborn sessions so endearing and beautiful.

I hope you enjoy the photos and getting to know this sweet family of three!

Exploring West Point on Eno River | Durham Family Photographer

I had such a FUN time exploring the West Point at Eno River with my dear colleague and friend, Morgan Henderson! She is another AWESOME local photographer in the Raleigh-Durham area, owner of Morgan Henderson Photography. Her daughter, Evelyn, was our little model for the day! It was a blast taking photos of her because of her adventurous personality! She LOVES nature and was born to be an explorer :) Capturing a child's curiosity for the world is one of my favorite things to document! Childhood is so fleeting, and holds so many precious moments.

From collecting shells, rocks, and leaves, we definitely had a great time exploring the park! It was also an honor to capture some sweet, in-between-moments with Morgan and her daughter :) Documenting genuine and candid moments is truly what I LOVE to do. I loved the way the light was shining through the trees and bridge that day because it created some interesting shadows and framing.

Below are a few of my favorite photos from the day. I can't WAIT to photograph more fall family sessions around the Raleigh and Durham area! Get in touch with me HERE if you are looking to capture your family in a genuine and natural way. I'd be honored to tell your story!
