Introducing Baby Theodore | Durham Newborn Photographer

Oh the joy of taking newborn photography at home! Lifestyle photography sessions are my favorite because it is a wonderful, fun, and relaxing opportunity to capture who you are as a family!

For those who aren’t familiar with lifestyle photography, it basically means you take a documentary and photojournalistic approach to capturing photos. While I still incorporate some posing during sessions, I also create room for the unposed, candid moments. Ultimately, my goal as a lifestyle family photographer is to create images that tell a meaningful story of your family while capturing genuine emotion in your photos. Lifestyle photography does not look stiff, awkward, cheesy, staged, or forced. Lifestyle photography is real, natural, organic, genuine, authentic, candid.

All that to say, I had such a wonderful time taking lifestyle newborn photos for this sweet family at their modern, cozy home! Baby Theo was born a couple weeks after Kathleen and Andrew’s maternity session and came out earlier than expected, but he was just so excited to join his family! :) He was SO adorable during our session, and I absolutely loved taking photos of him being held in his parents’ arms! It’s the way parents look and hold their precious baby that makes these newborn sessions so endearing and beautiful.

I hope you enjoy the photos and getting to know this sweet family of three!

A Special Mommy & Me | Raleigh Baby Photographer

I absolutely love capturing in-home lifestyle sessions, especially portraits of mothers and their babies! There's something so honest and real about taking portraits at home; it's where life happens and where memories are created.

This was a special session because this mama, Stacy, wanted to capture sweet portraits of her and her last baby. Her daughter, 9 months of age, was transitioning out of the "baby" phase, and she wanted to capture how little her baby girl is, her cute baby rolls, and the way she smiles and giggles when she looks at mama before she grows up! We also took some sweet sibling photos with her older brother, and it was so cute seeing him kiss his little sister! I was so honored to be able to document this beautiful season of life for her, and know these will be photos that will be cherished forever.

If you're interested to learn more about in-home sessions, please contact me! In-home baby photography is SO meaningful and makes it so easy and relaxing for the families I capture. You don't need to worry about how good your home looks either, or if it looks like something out of Pinterest. Just have fun and let me do the work! ;) Enjoy the photos!

The Smith Family | Raleigh Maternity Photographer

Y'all, if you're going to be having baby #2 (or 3, or 4), definitely consider capturing family photos before the newest member of your family arrives. Your family dynamic will change with every new life you add to your family, and documenting the different seasons of your life is something you will never regret.

A few weeks ago I had the honor to capture maternity photos and family portraits in Raleigh for the Smith family. When we took the photos, Lindsay was around 34 weeks and she looked absolutely stunning in her green floral maternity dress (it was so light and flowy!). In addition, we captured some mommy and me portraits of her and her son, Bennett. She wanted to document a few photos of her and her first born, before the baby arrives. Bennett had the most ADORABLE smile and was so excited to be a big brother!!

When we got to the family portraits, my heart was so full watching them all play and interact with one another. Capturing photos of their entire family--as a family of three--was so moving. This season, this moment, is so precious to remember. At the same time, there's so much excitement for baby #2 to arrive! I can't wait for the Smith family to create new memories together as a family of four :) Enjoy the photos!
