An Exciting Match Day | Durham Event Photographer

Match Day 2021 was a few weeks ago and I had the honor to capture this very special moment for these two wonderful friends and medical students, Anna and Sarah. Their joyful reactions and expressions were truly priceless when they found out which schools they got matched to! They both got into their FIRST CHOICE schools for residency, and it was such a huge excitement for the both of them! Anna will be completing her pediatric residency at the University of Utah, and Sarah will be completing her anesthesiology residency at Duke University :) Every season of life is worth capturing, and documenting moments like this is something that will be cherished for years to come. Enjoy scrolling through some of my favorite highlights below! Congrats again, Anna and Sarah!

Catwalk to Camp Fundraiser for Autism Society of NC | Raleigh Event Photographer

Did you know 1 in 57 eight-year-old schoolchildren in North Carolina may be diagnosed with autism? I had the honor to take photos for the Autism Society of North Carolina (ASNC) for their annual "Catwalk to Camp" fundraiser benefitting the Camp Royall scholarship fund. Camp Royall is the nation’s largest and longest operating autism specific camp, and offer recreational, therapeutic, and educational programming to more than 3,000 children and adults each year!

Before we kicked off the evening, we took a group picture of all the participants who were modeling in the fashion show. The models were past campers with autism, their loved ones, and ASNC staff. I remember one of the campers eagerly came up to me and said "it's really good to meet you!" and kept vigorously shaking my hand because he was so happy and excited! I then took a photo of him and his mother (see second photo) as well as photos for each family, and you can truly see the joy in their faces!

After the group photos, it was time for the event to begin. Temple Grandin, one of TIME Magazine's 100 Most Influential People, was the keynote speaker and shared a powerful message. Besides having a Ph.D, being a professor, writing books, and more, she is one of the most prominent spokespersons for autism. She shared her story and attributes her successes to her mom, who was a huge advocate for Temple and was the one to seek help for her. It was inspiring to say the least, and you can read more about her here. The Live Auction then took place and the auctioneer, Ben Farrell, did an outstanding job!! By the end of the evening, the ASNC raised over $170,000 for Catwalk to Camp!!

Below are some of the highlights from the evening, and you can visit this link to see the full gallery. Enjoy!

Raleigh Family Photography at RDU Airport | A Sweet Military Homecoming

As a Raleigh family photographer, I have the honor to take a variety of special events and milestones for families. From birthdays, anniversaries, to annual family portraits, it keeps my job fun and interesting! For this particular Raleigh family photography session, I had the honor to document a very special homecoming for the Bryant family at RDU Airport. This was a special homecoming because Wes was coming home from his last deployment with the Air Force, and Katie wanted to capture this once-in-a-lifetime moment for them to remember!

The Bryant's are a darling family with two precious little girls. When I met them at the airport, I was greeted by their warm smiles! The little girls wore beautiful matching red dresses, cute bows in their hair, and were carrying the American flag. It was very patriotic and ADORABLE all at the same time!! :)What I loved most were the dolls they were holding. If you look closely, it is a doll of their dad, which says, "Daddy loves you..." with their daughter's name. I felt like I was ready to cry because it was so sweet and touching! They would be able to give their dad doll a squeeze if they were missing him while he was away!

Also, it was wonderful seeing the USO present at the homecoming. There were many other families arriving home that day, and it was truly a beautiful moment. Thank you, Wes, and to all the men and women who serve our country!

Enjoy the photos and give your family an extra hug today! :)
